S.B. Submarine Systems Co., Ltd. (SBSS) has successfully secured an EPC power cable installation project in Bangladesh.
Tracing back to the beginning of 2016, SBSS and Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Co., Ltd. (ZTT) have formed a consortium to submit a turnkey bid to Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) in respect of Design, Supply, Installation, Testing and Commissioning of 33KV Submarine Cable from Barobkundo to Swandip including overhead lines and Sub-station. With the great endeavours of SBSS’s dedicated team the Bangladesh Project was finally awarded to the Consortium in the end of 2016 for a contract price of US$18.2 million, and the Consortium and BPDB jointly signed the BPDB Head Contract. The route survey is due to commence in February 2017 with installation scheduled for Q4 2017.
As SBSS’s first EPC Submarine Power Cable Installation Project, the secured award is a milestone in the history of SBSS which gives valuable turnkey track record in the drive to transition from Asia’s leading submarine power cable installation sub-contractor to leading project head contractor. During the whole process from bidding stage to securing the Project, SBSS have enhanced their bidding capabilities in the region, facilitated international exposure, and expanded their market share in the ASEAN subsea power cable market, in a close alignment with the national strategy of “One Belt One Road”.
